OUR STORY
30 years ago, we started as a Riding School and Livery yard, boasting 50 horses and ponies. Following many request to camp on our beautiful site, among the horses and livestock, we decided at the beginning of the year to diversify into camping. A slight delay with the Covid 19 pandemic!
We choose to add our own Safari "Pod" Tents along with regular pitches. This gives an opportunity for people to experience camping without the hassle of putting up a tent!
THE FARM
Situated under the Salisbury Chalk hills, Long River Farm, has been home to many animals during its existence, the chalk downs make for perfect grazing, with a diverse and rare plant life. The area of hills known as White Scar Hangings is an area of scientific interest, due to the wild flowers and rare wildlife. Along side the hangings, we have several acres of woodlands, mainly impressive beech trees and hazel.
The hazel is collected to make Thatching Spars.
The farm also has a variety of fenced paddocks, used for the Horses, Ponies, Goats, Sheep and Pigs, Chickens are free roaming!
This year we have upgraded the farm to accommodate camping, we are currently constructing a purpose built shower and toilet block, with communal lounge. Currently we have four flushing toilets, one shower and a chemical toilet disposal area.
Reception with shop and Hand made Marshfiled Ice Cream, free WIFI available in the reception and lounge area.
